Random Thoughts & PBS Carrier

So here I am bored to tears. Got lots of work to do.... at home. But I don't have time to do it after work. We have games or practice 4 out of 5 days during the week, then games most of Saturday. I also don't have the motivation or energy that Army Wife has.

PBS series Carrier: I've seen the first 4 episodes, so 2 days worth, which means I'm a day or two behind. I'm still undecided about what I think of the series. There are a couple things I want them to show, but still don't know if they will. So far they have focused on a couple of Airman/Seamen most of which are a little pissed off, a couple of Junior Officers and a lot of the ship's Command Master Chief (CMC).

I was talking to one of the people here at work and as we were talking she informed me I was indeed out there when they were filming. I can't remember that at all. But I will say on my behalf that when there are TV type people around me, I avoid them at all costs and I tend to block out large portions of my deployments. I think the shrinks call it a defense mechanism.

I know or have obviously seen most of the people that they have interviewed or shown, and have not seen me. Which is good. If I do I'll let you know. Also keep your eyes open for anything that says VFA-14, Tophatters, or if you see anything with a black top hat, that was my old squadron. They ruled.

The first episode did hit me a little in my allergy place, remembering stuff like the farewell. Guam really is a cool place, they really do tell you what you can and can't wear off the ship.

I will also be willing to answer any questions you have about what they are showing. At times I had to stop and think because things got out of sequence or creative in their editing.

Retired Mechanic Chief and his Retired YNCS wife wonder why the show has virtually no Chiefs except the CMC.

That's one of the things I was waiting for myself. That and more First Classes. Just showing the JO's and Airmen is not a very good view of things on the ship.

Navy CPO - I'm guessing it's because when most people think "carrier" they think "Top Gun".

I've heard about this series and I'm wondering whether I'd get anything out of it. I worked in the engineering spaces. Since that's not "sexy" like the airwing, I doubt that they'll be showing any of that.
