I recently came across an article titled "Searching for Whitopia" and deliberately did not read it. However my CPO brother Curt over at Captain of a crew of one had posted on it. I then had to read it. As I imagined it really pissed me off. The guy the wrote the book is black of course and has written about how us white people have decided to move out of certain places and into more "homogenized" cities and neighbor hoods. I think the man misses the point entirely.
I am not a racist person. I have had friends who are every color imaginable. But there are things about the culture that I do not like. I cannot stand hearing someone's stereo from a mile away. I don't like the vulgarity and violence of rap music. I love rap music in the 80's.
Maybe people are moving away from areas that are starting to go downhill. Maybe they are moving to go to these better schools and live in better neighborhoods. It's called upward mobility and it's something that most people strive for. I don't want to generalize but typically you don't see that in the black communities.
So I don't know. Good weekend discussion fodder? No? To heady? Racist? Me or him.
