1+2=ALL/What does a Retired Chief Do on the Weekend

Christmas was a blast. We spent the weekend in San Diego. If you've ever been to San Diego then you know when you go you can never ask for better weather. While we were there we stayed at our daughters apartment. It was a little cramped but it was nice to be there with her and the grandkids, yes I'm a grandpa.

Flew to San Diego from Reno to San Diego on Wednesday after work. No problems what so ever. Damn near a first. Thursday we finished up a little bit of Christmas shopping and called it quits. Christmas Eve we all just hung out at the daughters and ordered Pizza.

Christmas morning was absolutely great having both the kids and grandkids there. The grand daughter is to young to really get it but everyone else did! Everyone got what they wanted and more! It was fun watching the kids open their presents. That really is fun.

One funny thing is that I had told Number One about the me buying the XBox 360 for the boys a couple of weekds ago and she didn't seem that excited about it. What I didn't know at the time was that they had just bought my Christmas present. A Playstation 3. So like the title says 1+2=All. We now have all of the big gaming consoles in our house. She's not to thrilled about that, but I think she'll get over it. The boys and I however are pretty excited!

What does a retired Chief do on the weekend? Why he pays good money to go on a retired aircraft carrier. On Saturday I took my two boys and the grandson to the USS Midway museum. Very cool and we had a great time. The two younger ones liked seeing everything, but I think Mini-Me really got into it. We managed to see most of the ship, but sometime soon I'd like to go back and take a little more time. There are things I didn't get to see and some parts of the Midway that I have never seen on any of the ships that I was on. I highly recomend it. My favorite part? Surprisingly it was seeing the "racks" or the beds. Just sort of reminded me of actually being there again.

This weekend I was planning on going home, but as I look outside it is snowing like crazy and has been all night. Not good. Hopefully it clears up soon or I'll be stuck here all weekend.

WTF?

Obama once again shows his disdain for this country by allowing INTERPOL to have free reign in the U.S. Obama Surrenders U.S. Sovereignty

Read the whole thing. The last two paragraphs are the most important in the whole story.

TIME

Time has once again gotten away from me. Lots of things going on. To much sometimes. So where to start.......

It seems I won the alleged bet (see below) LL over at Chromed Curses decided to pipe up on twitter about the Army-Navy game. Well I couldn't let that go. So a little bet was made and of course... Navy won. She now has ordered and received a nice sweat shirt. Pictures will be on her website. Maybe next time she'll know better than to put down the Goat. All in good fun and she was an awesome sport about it and that made it even better. Fear the goat!

A few weeks ago I went to Reno to do the Christmas shopping. Yes me. It's OK. I bought for the boys. I know how they think. LOL. So fast forward to last Friday. I'm a going home so that Santa has all the Christmas presents in the right place to be delivered on Christmas morn'. I get 30 miles into my trip home, stop for gas....... and my car won't start. Not good. Not that it doesn't start... it does nothing. Turn the key no turning over, no click click. Zip. Shit. Time: 2:30. Call the insurance company for a tow back to where I'm staying. Tow truck arranged. I get an automated call back and they say the truck will be there in 45 minutes. Time: 2:45. Call Number One. Enterprise in town: No rentals. Hertz($$$) they have cars, but they close at 4. Shit. Tow truck driver arrives. Time 3:00. Call Number One again. Hertz($$$) guy will stay no later than 4:15. Ass. Get to town at 4pm. Car off of tow truck. My friends son is there to pick me up. Time 4:10. Call Number One. Tell Hertz($$$) guy I'm on the way. Arrive at Hertz($$$) 4:30 guy is still there. Tell guy how much he rocks for staying. Get home at 11pm. Christmas present crisis averted.

Quick but nice weekend at home. Play Yahtzee and War with Mini-Me and put together puzzles with the Story Teller.

Tomorrow I get on a plane and fly to San Diego to spend Christmas with the Middle Daughter and Number One's In-laws. Should be an interesting time considering all that's happened this year. I'll be back on Sunday. Oh, and this is the first Christmas in YEARS that I do not know what the family is getting me for Christmas. I asked Number One and all she said was it's something I've already asked for. Hmmm. OK. We'll see......

Hope ALL of you have a super Christmas and you are looking forward to it as much as me. Be careful and be smart.

BET

Seems I may or may not have bet with a certain blogger. Loser has to wear either an Army Shirt or a Navy shirt to work. Good think I already have one picked out to send.

MINUS

It's -11 degrees here. Ya. That's friggin cold. Supposed to stay that way most of the week. It's also supposed to snow in the mountains, 80% chance. Which means...... I probably won't go home this weekend. Sucks. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to be because I have most of the Christmas presents with me.

Army-Navy game is this weekend. Navy will slaughter Army. Just saying.

MOOD

The mood was perfect.... The lights were out.... Candles lit.... Everything was perfect for a nice romantic....... SHAVE! Ya. Woke up this morning and was getting ready for work. Brush the teeth get ready to shave and then...... the power went out. So I shaved, showered by candle light. I can see maybe showering by candle light if you were with your wife, girlfriend or maybe both. But using it to get ready for work is kind of a pain in the ass. Then try and get dressed that way.

Came to work..... no power. Everyone was about getting ready to leave when it came back on. Dammit.

BTW there's been about a 18 inches of snow here. It's pretty and all but damn is it cold. Driving yesterday was interesting. Especially considering half way to work my windshield wipers stopped working. I think the motor might actually be froze up. The fuse was blown and I went through 3 more trying to get them to work. I gave up. I figured it would stop snowing and I have a bunch of life insurance. Either way.....

Supposed to snow again later this week. This will thwart my going home this weekend. That would be bad considering I have most of the Christmas presents here with me. Hopefully the weather guessers are wrong.

SOMEONE

I've been meaning to send someone an email but I figured this is just as well.

This place where I live Nevada, that's "a" as in apple, is a Pepsi state. The only place I've been that serves my beloved Coca-Cola is McDonald's. I'm not exaggerating at all. Every freaking place.

So, Orange Juice Lady, if you ever come here bring plenty of your "Thank you for serving Pepsi" cards.

WEEKEND

Not much going on. Staying in Nevada. I think I might go the Reno so that I can do a little Christmas shopping. There is NOWHERE to shop where I'm at now. Mini-Me wants some sort of game that has a helmet that you control with your "mind". I doubt that's what it is, but if this rings a bell with you PLEASE let me know. I will be stopping at Target and Toys R Us to see if they have it, but I really have no idea what it is.

Oh if I do go to Reno you bet your ass I will be hitting a buffet. One of the Casinos has a $19.99 all you can eat Lobster.

What about you? Any plans for the weekend that are more exiting than mine? Let me know.

THANKSGIVING PART II

This year was a little different for us. We ended up going to Cambria, CA. One of my favorite places. Stayed with the Nephew and Niece Doctors. Loved it. Thanksgiving dinner was actually at another house there in Cambria. Number One's Brother-in-law's sister and husband live there ($$$$). Very nice house and nice people for the most part. The whole weekend seemed non-stop but relaxing at the same time.

It was also another brother-in-laws birthday. So on Friday for his birthday his kids took him trap shooting at a range that was just down the road. He went with this 3 sons, I went and one of the nephews went. Awesome place. They had everything you would want including shotguns that you could rent. We all had a blast. Literally.

Saturday was a day that will live on in most of our minds. The kids, and by kids I mean the 20 something nephews and niece-in-law wanted to go hiking/rock climbing. So we went minus Number One who stayed with her mom. My little one, the Story Teller, was the funniest thing EVER climbing that rock. We were all dying laughing. At one point a guy and a lady came and started climbing next to us. Well he had done it before and got about half way up the wall and was laughing too. So the Story Teller, yells at him, "Stop laughing at me! This is my first time!" We all lost it. I took a crap load of pictures but there are all at home. Hopefully I can post some later. But wait. Not done! The Doctor Nephew also has a kayak. Mini-me had his heart set on going. So after a lunch of a half pound burger, we went. Got pictures of that too. My fat ass, well stomach stuffed into a kayak and Mini-me in front.

Awesome weekend. Did not want to come back here but I had to.

One more thing. I bought my Christmas present on Sunday morning. A new TV. 46 inch Sony Aquios. Sweet.

Hope everyone else had a good Thanksgiving and hope your weeks are going good.
